BHB road traffic accident statistics for January-December 2020

Thursday 28 January 2021: Bermuda Hospitals Board statistics for the year 2020 are now available and show the following:

  • 1,173 cases were seen in the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital Emergency Department and Lamb Foggo Urgent Care Centre
  • 152 had to be admitted for their injuries, 16 of them to the Intensive Care Unit
  • 2 were discharged to overseas facilities for further treatment
  • 18 were tourists
  • 7 were under the age of 18

Bermuda Hospitals Board Road Traffic Accident Statistics for October 2019

Monday 25 November 2019:  Bermuda Hospitals Board road traffic accident statistics for October 2019 are now available. There were 157 cases that required attention at our emergency facilities – 13 people were admitted to general wards. Of those admitted, two were minors ( a 3- year-old and a 15-year-old). No one was air-ambulanced overseas due to a road traffic accident. Twelve of those who attended Emergency, were tourists.

BHB road traffic accident statistics for February 2019

22 March 2019: Bermuda Hospitals Board road traffic accident statistics for the period 1-28 February 2019 are as follows:

  • 97 victims required the Emergency Department ( includes the Lamb Foggo Urgent Care Centre) following a road traffic accident
  • 1 victim was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit
  • 8 victims were admitted for treatment for acute injuries
  • 1 victim was 17 years old
  • 6 tourists (all due to cycle accidents) were among the 97 victims seen

Bermuda Hospitals Board announces Road Traffic Accident Statistics for the period 1 January – 31 August 2018

20 September 2018: Bermuda Hospitals Board road traffic accident statistics for the period 1 January 2018 – 31 August 2018, shows the following:

1,224 victims required the Emergency Department

89 victims were admitted to the Acute Care Wing

15 victims were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit

6 victims 18 or younger were admitted to the hospital and,

8 victims were discharged to an overseas medical facility, following road traffic accidents.

86 road traffic accident victims were tourists

Bermuda Hospitals Board announces Road Traffic Accident Statistics for the period 1 January – 30 June 2018

11 July 2018: Eighteen tourists were involved in road traffic accidents that required medical attention last month. Bermuda Hospitals Board road traffic accident statistics for June show that 190 people attended the Emergency Department for treatment following road traffic accidents and that 18 of them were tourists.  The statistics to the end of June this year show the following:

839 victims required the Emergency Department (51 were tourists)

60 victims were admitted to the Acute Care Wing

9 victims were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit

6 victims 18 or younger were admitted to the hospital and,

4 victims were discharged to an overseas medical facility, following road traffic accidents.
