Returning Bermudian Physician Appointed As MWI Medical Physician

Bermuda Hospitals Board (BHB) announces the recent appointment of returning Bermudian doctor, Dr Ayesha Peets Talbot as Medical Physician for service users at the Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute (MWI). This position reports to the Chief of Staff, Dr Donald Thomas III, MD.

Prior to receiving her medical degree and taking a position with BHB, Dr Peets Talbot worked as a nurses´ aide on the Continuing Care Unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and as a medical student volunteer in the Emergency Department. After qualifying as a physician and completing an Internal Medicine-Paediatrics Residency at Virginia Commonwealth University in the USA, Dr Peets Talbot returned to Bermuda. She has a private practice alongside her role as Medical Physician at MWI.

In her capacity at MWI, she is diagnosing and treating service users for acute and chronic medical problems including asthma, obesity, diabetes and hypertension. She also assists in coordinating care for these service users, if they need to see a surgeon or medical sub-specialist or if they require additional diagnostics.

Dr Thomas comments: “I am extremely pleased to welcome back another bright, young, Bermudian physician. BHB actively mentors and recruits Bermudian medical students and doctors working aboard. BHB is committed to hiring highly skilled and trained healthcare professionals to deliver quality care to our patients. Dr. Peets Talbot and other Bermudian physicians will assure we provide continuity and consistency of care to our residents and visitors in the coming years.”

Dr Peets Talbot says: “I am very happy to be back in Bermuda, practicing medicine. Working with people who have psychiatric illnesses and chronic medical problems can be challenging, but I enjoy my work at MWI and appreciate being part of a team that provides the best care for service users. ”
