Hours of Operation for Emergency and Urgent Care Services Over the Holidays

Bermuda Hospitals Board today reminds the community that they can access Emergency and Urgent Care services during the following times over the holidays:
• Lamb Foggo Urgent Care Centre
o Monday to Friday (Including the public holidays – 25 & 26 December and 1 January): 4pm to midnight
o Weekends: noon to midnight

• King Edward VII Memorial Hospital Emergency Department
o 24 hour service 7 days a week

People are reminded that community physicians should be consulted for minor conditions. The Lamb Foggo Urgent Care Centre provides an out-of-hours service for more pressing conditions that cannot wait for a GP appointment, and the Emergency Department should only be used for emergency illnesses and accidents.
BHB would also like to remind the public that there is a cost for all Emergency and Urgent Care Services. While people with insurance do not pay on the day, accessing Emergency services, rather than visiting a GP when it is appropriate, is resulting in rising premiums in Bermuda. Individuals without insurance will be billed directly.
The basic charges for an Emergency visit are based on the level of care provided. There are five levels – basically the more sick you are, the higher will be your level of care and your charges . These charges do not include the costs of any diagnostic tests, nor the charges for consultations and care provided by on-call specialists.
• Level 1 -$276.00
• Level 2 – $392.00
• Level 3 – $531.00
• Level 4 – $690.00
• Level 5 – $849.00

A full list of BHB fees is available on its website at www.bermudahospitals.com.
