BHB & BHCT announce winners of Originality Matters Student Competition

Bermuda Hospitals Board (BHB) together with Bermuda Hospitals Charitable Trust (BHCT) today announces the winners of the Originality Matters Competition.

To compete, students created messaging around the hospital’s new Acute Care Wing and its Why it Matters fundraising campaign that would capture the attention of their contemporaries. Students submitted posters, flyers, and radio and television ads.

There were nine individual entries and four entries from pairs.

The winners are:
• Radio commercial – Team Caring is Key from Warwick Academy. Team members are Carmel Butterfield, Kristian Singh, Rhyn Beardon, Jesse Washington and Issac McRonald.
There were two group entries that each included a full media package with the rationale for the design and scripted elements together with a marketing plan on where the materials would be used.
• Television commercial – Meagan Stecko from Mount Saint Agnes Academy.
• Poster – Luke Pimentel from Mount Saint Agnes Academy.

“We were impressed with the high caliber of entries,” said DeShae DeShields, BHCT Marketing Manager. “There was no need to edit or re-record any of the winning entries. The students relayed clear and accurate messages, perfect for radio and television.”

“All the entries came from students enrolled in media studies,” said Cathy Stovell BHB PR Specialist. “It was a real eye opener on what our students can produce. We gave them a few facts about the move to the new wing and they created some truly memorable messages.”
