Scholarships Awarded to Bermudian Students Pursuing Careers in Healthcare

The Bermuda Hospitals Board (BHB) is awarding 14 scholarships today to post-secondary students and BHB staff. The scholarship recipients are pursuing academic studies in diverse areas of the healthcare field such as nursing, occupational therapy, psychology, physical therapy, pharmacy, social work and diagnostic imaging. Selection criteria for the scholarships include marks and involvement in extra-curricular activities. The total value of the scholarships is approximately $230,000.

“Supporting Bermudian students in their healthcare studies is a high priority for the Bermuda Hospitals Board, particularly in light of the current worldwide shortage of all types of health workers,” said Joan Dillas-Wright, chief executive officer of the Bermuda Hospitals Board. “These young students will play a key role in our community as healthcare professionals. We congratulate them on this achievement, and wish them continued success in their academic endeavours.”
