Bermuda Hospitals Board Announces Appointment of PPP Legal Advisor

Bermuda Hospitals Board (BHB) announces today an important step in the appointment of advisors who will guide BHB through the delivery of a new Patient Tower and Ambulatory Care Centre.

BHB has appointed Davis LLP as the KEMH Redevelopment Project’s Public Private Partnership
(PPP) legal advisor following a competitive procurement process. Seven legal advisory firms
from the UK and North America, all with extensive PPP experience and significant healthcare
PPP experience, were invited to respond to BHB’s Invitation to Submit Qualifications (ISQ).
Davis LLP is a leading Canadian law firm that specialises in major infrastructure projects and
public private partnerships. “Davis LLP is absolutely delighted to have secured this important
appointment,” says Ian Bendell, National Co‐Chair of Davis LLP´s Projects practice. “We are
looking forward to helping Bermuda´s first PPP come to fruition.”

One of the first tasks for Davis LLP, in consultation with Bermuda Hospitals Board, will be to
identify a local law firm that will provide the local legal advisory input necessary for the project.
“Local legal knowledge and advice will be important in the development of the procurement
model and the contractual mechanisms critical to the success of the KEMH Redevelopment
Project,” notes Mr. Bendell.

BHB CEO David Hill says, “Davis LLP and a local firm will work together to provide BHB with the
PPP expertise and the knowledge of local legal requirements that this flagship project must
have.”
