Acute Care Wing: – new features on the face

Over the Easter weekend work continued on the new Acute Care Wing, presenting the public with added features on the building’s face. A steel canopy has been completed over the main entrance together with the sun shading structure (brise-soleil) above the canopy, bringing the facade of this section of the building closer to its final look.

Also new outside is the ambulance entrance to the Emergency Department. Steel supports have been erected and fitting of the canopy panels has begun.

These canopies will provide protection from the weather for the public and emergency services entering the building. Both additions can be seen from Point Finger Road.

Bermuda Hospitals Board CEO Venetta Symonds said: ”Seeing the progression of the construction of the new wing is exciting. The Acute Care Wing will be a state of the art facility when it opens to the public in September providing an environment that will better enable our staff to provide safe, high quality, compassionate care to patients.”
