KEMH Visitor Car Park to Be Re-Surfaced Sunday 17 and Sunday 24 August 2008

Bermuda Hospitals Board today notes that King Edward VII Memorial Hospital’s Visitors Car Park on Berry Hill will be closed on Sunday 18 and again on Sunday 24 August while maintenance work is undertaken.

Effectively, the car park will be closed from 8am on Sunday morning, until 8am on Monday morning on both weekends. The Visitors Car Park will open during the week, although between Monday 18 and Saturday 23 August, bays will be unmarked. Security will be on hand to assist parking during the week.

On both Sunday 18 and Sunday 24 August, visitors will be able to park in staff and other visitor locations as listed below. A BHB shuttle will circulate continuously on these days while the car park is resurfaced. The 15 minute bays opposite the Emergency Department will be available for emergency, short-term parking.

Carpark spaces available to all visitors and patients on Sunday 18 and 24 August are:

• All levels of the Staff Car Parks on Berry Hill Road (opposite the hospital)
• All Department of Health, Staff and Visitor bays in front the Continuing Care Unit on
Point Finger Road (access is next to the main hospital entrance on
Point Finger Road)

Director of Estates & Facilities, George Melling comments: “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience to visitors to the hospital. The surface in this car park has seriously deteriorated and the bay markings are wearing away, so this is important maintenance work that has to be undertaken to ensure the safety and comfort of visitors and patients using our facilities. I’d like to thank all visitors for their understanding and cooperation.”
