New Chief of Staff Joins Bermuda Hospitals Board

The Bermuda Hospitals Board welcomes Dr. Tiina Kaigas as its new Chief of Staff. In her new role, Dr. Kaigas will be responsible for medical staff and act as their representative to hospital administration. Dr. Kaigas is an experienced physician in both clinical medicine and administration, with an emphasis on evaluation and enhancement of practice performance. Dr. Kaigas replaces Dr. Robert Vallis, who has been Acting Chief of Staff for the past 10 months.

“We are thrilled that Dr. Kaigas, a self-described patient advocate, has joined the Bermuda Hospitals Board. Her combination of clinical and administrative experience and her passion for quality improvement make Dr. Kaigas an excellent fit for our hospitals,” said Joan Dillas-Wright, Chief Executive Officer of the Bermuda Hospitals Board.

Hailing from Ontario, Canada, Dr. Kaigas received her Medical Degree from McMaster University School of Medicine. Most recently, she was the Director of Medical Quality Associates and the Chair of the International Physician Assessment Coalition. Prior to that, she was the Director of Medical Administration at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

The Bermuda Hospitals Board employs physicians who work in a variety of areas: continuing care, critical care, maternal/child, medical, surgical, diagnostic imaging, mental health and laboratory services. Dr. Kaigas will be responsible for overseeing physician practices, peer review, medical staff credentialing and ensuring medical staff quality improvement efforts are successfully implemented.
